Sponsor a child
For more than 40 years, at Uppalam and areas around, Volontariat helps the people in many ways, but its main concern is looking after the children from economically weaker section of the population. The programme of Sponsorship, mainly supported by friends from Belgium and France, aims at assisting them in health, nutrition, schooling, education.
This programme, started in the Seventies, reaches around 1200 children in October 2006. The decision to accept a child for sponsorship is taken after due inquiries carried out by qualified social workers, based on the socio-economic situation of the family. The crèches and KG are run in the programme, usually children are sponsored when they reach the KG level.

The amount given by a Sponsor allows Volontariat to take in charge the needs of a child of the Sponsorship programme:
A well-balanced midday meal, if the school is not too far from our Centre,
The school uniform, compulsory, and the school fees,
The evening classes with teachers paid by Volontariat,
The health follow-up and the payment of medicines and hospitalization,
All extra-curricular activities: music (drums, trumpet, flute, etc), classical (Bharata Natyam) and contemporary dances, song, yoga and karate, holiday camps, etc.
The possibilities given to a child, through the Sponsorship programme, are a chance for her or him of a better future.
