On November 16th, 2008, a mini marathon was organized at Pondicherry by the Organisation “Sports Sans Frontieres”. The sponsored children of Volontariat were invited to run; 173 children, boys and girls, decide to participate .
The practice session for the marathon started 10 days before under the guidance of an older sponsored boy who himself decided to train the little ones. He took the children to the stadium, daily, at around 6.30 am and gave them a warm up for the event. He was helped by a couple of teachers.

On the eventful day, the children were joyfully gathered together on the Goubert beach avenue, near the Gandhi Statue, the starting point. When the race began, the children show up quickly their capability. Out of a total of 1500 children from various schools who participated in the event, one of our sponsored boys finished in the 9th position and one of our sponsored girls was among the first 25 girls.
This was indeed a joyful and a thrilling day not only children who participated, but for everyone. The hard preparation work of the evening school teachers and the sports master was finally rewarded. After the race, the children were taken to the Volontariat main Office where they were offered a good breakfast. Then, they departed to their own houses.
